CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Friday night.

It happened on Gibbons Link Road, off of Christenbury Road, just after 8 p.m. They say 21-year-old Robert McManus smashed into a car on Nathan Drive before walking up to a woman in a nearby car, punching her in the face, and taking off.

McManus then threw himself onto the hood of another car, and started smashing one of the car's windows. That's when police say someone inside the car shot McManus.

The suspect called police immediately after. Police say they won't release the suspect's name unless charges are filed.
