STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A church was destroyed by a massive fire in early Monday morning.

It happened at Interfaith Deliverance Church on Western Avenue in Statesville.
Authorities were responding to a burglar alarm, but when they arrived, they found the church on fire.
"We had the fire under control within about an hour of arriving on scene. There's still some hot spots and fires burning inside the building, like in the basement, but it's not a threat to anything else other than the existing building, and it's already a total loss. We'll have crews on the scene for several hours to come, to help maintain the hot spots,” Spencer Lee, chief of the Statesville Fire Department
No injuries were reported.
