CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Increasing clouds overnight with the chance for a burst of snow, or two, in the mountains early Saturday. Most of Saturday looks dry for the Charlotte region until late Saturday night.

The main event will play out very late Saturday night through around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Charlotte Area: Basically a cold rain with some wintry mix at times; no accumulations.

The I-40 Area: A mix of rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow is possible. Some limited accumulations could cause some slick travel for a few hours.

Mountain Area: Snow and sleet with accumulations of 2-5" possible. Travel will be difficult most of Sunday.

There is a lot of variability with the data. Modeling continues struggling with the "warm nose".  We may end up seeing more rain. Time will tell.

Sunshine will return Tuesday.
