Sunny skies will last into the afternoon today with high temperatures in the mid 50s across the Piedmont, mid 40s in the mountains. High clouds will arrive from the south before sunset and the clouds will thicken overnight. There may be a stray light shower after midnight but the bulk of the rain will arrive Thursday morning. The rain will be heavy at times and will continue into Friday. Rainfall totals will range between .75 and 2" across the area by late Friday.

Friday night the rain will end for the Piedmont but it will change over to snow in the mountains. Several inches of snow are possible in the mountains before ending Saturday midday.

The weekend will bring mostly sunny skies for the Piedmont with highs in the low 50s Saturday but climbing close to 60 for Sunday.
