CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mother and her 5-year-old son are recovering after being shot in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte.
Police say the mother was shot in an arm and the boy was shot in a leg at a home on Glory Meadow Court.
Neighbors, one of whom didn't want to be identified, were surprised by the news.
No suspects are in custody. The victims are expected to be okay.
