A violent attack on EMTs who were responding to an emergency call has been caught on camera.

Staten Island Councilman Joe Borelli posted a video of the assault on his Twitter page.

"We need to see how we can better protect EMTs and give them tools, training and tactics to better protect themselves and their partners," Borelli tweeted.

Police say it happened Wednesday morning near Albany Avenue and Rutland Road in East Flatbush.

The EMTs were bringing a patient to the hospital when they asked the person's family member to leave the ambulance.

That's when police say a family member and another person got upset and attacked the EMTs.

Three EMTs were hurt, and police say they were treated for injuries to the neck, back and shoulder.

And one EMT was bit on the hand.

In June, the FDNY announced all ambulances would have signs warning an assault against an emergency official could result in seven years in prison.
