Quiet conditions for the rest of tonight and Friday. We'll note increasing clouds Saturday. As of this post, I expect most of Saturday will be dry.

While there are still some fluctuations expected with the storm track, possible snow accumulations and concerns for ice, it appears more and more likely we'll take a wallop from the first winter storm of the season.

Mountain counties could see the largest snow accumulations with 1 to 2 feet of snow possible. Foothill counties may see 7 to 11 inches of snow, with Piedmont areas, north of the I-85 zone, around 6 to 10 inches of snow.

As for Charlotte, I'll forecast 4 to 8 inches of snow and 2 to 4 inches of snow for Union and southern Stanly Counties. Anson and Richmond Counties, 1 to 3 inches of snow may be possible.

Ice could become a larger issue for south Mecklenburg, and counties to our east. If freezing rain develops, because of warm air aloft, tree limbs and power lines could have issues.

Much may yet change as we close in on Saturday. We'll do our best to keep you informed and up to date on the latest trends vs reality.
