CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Christmas decorations are sparse this year inside Carol Mejia’s home. They bring up memories of her son, Sam Davis.

  • The 26 year old disappeared June 29, 2018 on Poplar Grove Drive in north Charlotte.
  • The family has hired a private investigator but Mejia said there's no evidence of a crime.
  • The family is raising money for a reward to find Davis.

The 26 year old disappeared June 29, 2018 on Poplar Grove Drive in north Charlotte. Despite repeatedly reaching out to him she's heard nothing.

The family has hired a private investigator but Mejia said there's no evidence of a crime.

She said since his disappearance she's learned he'd been using drugs but wanted to be clean.

“Wherever Sam is right now, somebody knows that. They know where he is,” Mejia said.

Her plea for help led her to post a Facebook live video last week. The video has attracted 24,000 views. Mejia said she doesn't do it for attention but wants people to know what's it like to be in her shoes.

“People are always saying what it must feel like. That's what it feels like,” Mejia said.

It's a feeling few can relate to. Mejia just hopes someone will be able to shed light on where her son is.

“I just need to know that he's okay because living like this is an absolute nightmare,” Mejia said.

CMPD says there are no updates in the case but it remains ongoing.
