Officers say they got a call around 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning from neighbors complaining of noise. When officers got to the house on Winifield Drive, off Independence Boulevard, they met with a man, identified as Morgan, who they say was armed.

Detectives say the Morgan went back into the home and started firing his weapon at officers. This reportedly is not the first time they've been called to the house.

"We do know we've been at this residence before. Our officers are aware of the person that they encountered and we're trying to establish a rapport but just weren't successful at it," said Chief Kerr Putney.

Officials say officer Joshua Skipper, officer Edward Gonzalez and investigator Derek Rud fired their weapons and have been placed on administrave leave which is deparment protocol during this type of investigation.
