After a much warmer start to the day Friday, showers and above normal temperatures return across North Carolina beginning Friday and continuing into the weekend as a cold front pulls through the state.

Friday will feature a small chance for scattered showers with mild conditions. Highs will warm to above normal, with temperatures topping off in the low 60s for most across the Piedmont and mid 50s in the mountains. A few showers will continue into Friday evening before a brief lull in the activity expected after midnight.

A cold front approaching from the west will kick the weekend off to a wet start. Expect a steadier rain to arrive by mid-morning early afternoon Saturday and continue into the afternoon. Rain will contiue into Saturday night as the cold front begins to cross the Appalachians.

By Sunday, we'll really feel a noticeable difference in temperatures. Highs will soar into the 70s ahead of the cold front across the Piedmont with showers continuing through the first half of the day. By Sunday evening, expect clearing behind the front with a quieter Monday, but still mild, to kick off the start of December.
