NORTH CAROLINA -- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is hailing the Thanksgiving travel weekend as a success after zero traffic fatalities were reported on I-40.

Officials say placing troopers ever 20 miles on the interstate may have helped.

They say in total, there were only a total of 31 collisions between November 21 and 25.
