NORTH CAROLINA-- The holiday season is a time for family, friends, and for many -- spending money.

But shopping ‘til you drop doesn’t have to mean a drop in your credit score.

In order to help shoppers avoid any post-holiday debt, WalletHub calculated a maximum holiday spending budget per-person for 570 cities in the United States. The cities were then ranked from highest to lowest budget. Several cities in North Carolina were included in these rankings.

WalletHub named Cary the 12th highest city in the nation on the list, with a holiday budget of $2,010.

Greenville was ranked as one of the lowest cities on the list, coming in at #521 with a holiday budget of $418.

The rankings were based on city demographics such as age, income levels, and a savings-to-monthly expenses ratio.

202. Concord -- $768
