MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. – Two travelers to the Queen City are behind bars after more than six pounds of cocaine was found in two pieces of luggage coming through Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

  • Two Jamaican citizens were arrested in Charlotte last week for bringing cocaine into the country.
  • The street value of the cocaine was $90,000.
  • The two were transferred into the custody of Homeland Security.

The first bundle of cocaine was discovered Sunday, November 4, with a 26-year-old Jamaican citizen traveling in from Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The second bundle was found Tuesday, November 6, in the possession of a 37-year old Jamaican citizen arriving from Montego Bay.

The two individuals were arrested for the importation of a controlled substance and turned over to Homeland Security.

The total weight of the cocaine seized was over six pounds with an estimated street value of $90,000.
