CHARLOTTE -- As the remnants of Michael moved through North Carolina, much of the area saw localized flooding and heavy wind gusts that caused some downed trees and power outages.

In Iredell County, one person was killed from Michael on Thursday afternoon when a tree fell on a Ford sedan. The Highway Patrol called it a freak accident and says the man was killed on the spot.

In Charlotte, gusty winds brought down trees across the city. One downed tree caused LYNX Blue Line light rail service to be suspended.

And in Boone, residents reported significant flooding along Bamboo Road and at Boone Mall along Blowing Rock Road. Gov. Roy Cooper visited Valle Crucis Friday to look at the damage.
