CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will begin the second phase of water testing later this month.

  • CMS begins second phase of water testing
  • 58 schools tested in first phase
  • Second phase will include 32 schools and three administrative sites

That's after water quality tests found high levels of lead at some schools last year.

The issue prompted the district to replace and repair a number of faucets and filters.

Fifty-eight schools were tested in the first phase.

The second phase will include 32 schools and three administrative sites all built before 1989 when lead was outlawed.

The testing should be complete in early November.
