The heat and humidity are back! Tuesday will start off with some patchy fog and then become mostly sunny. Temperatures will reach into the upper 80s and lower 90s but the high humidity will make it feel like the mid 90s at times. A stray shower is likely across the Piedmont but the coverage of afternoon and evening storms will be greater for the higher elevations.

This week will bring no relief from the heat. Overnight lows will drop to the lower 70s each morning and afternoon highs will top out near 90. Heat index values will reach the mid 90s each day. We have had 57 days of 90 degrees or higher this year. The average annual is 35 days. Last year we had 40 days but we had 80 days in 2016. This summer is pacing to be one of the top 10 hottest summers across the Carolinas since written weather records began back in the last 1800s.
