NORTH CAROLINA -- In an exclusive survey conducted by Spectrum News, in association with SurveyUSA, 600 North Carolinians weighed in on issues surrounding the upcoming North Carolina legislative session, North Carolina National Guard potentially assisting in patrolling the Mexican border and energy companies in the state. 

Disclaimer: For survey questions regarding the legislative session and border patrol, only responses from registered North Carolina voters, of which there were 526, are reported.

NORTH CAROLINA LEGISLATIVE SESSION:

1. Which one issue is most important for lawmakers to focus on in the upcoming short North Carolina legislative session starting in May?

According to the survey, more North Carolina voters want legislators to focus on education than any other topic. No option obtained a majority.

  • Education: 34 percent
  • Taxes: 20 percent
  • Prison Reform: 3 percent
  • School Security: 18 percent
  • Judicial Redistricting: 7 percent
  • Something Else: 11 percent
  • Not Sure: 6 percent

According to the survey, more North Carolina voters support sending N.C. National Guard members to the border than do not. No option obtained a majority.

According to the survey, more North Carolinians support allowing the pipeline to be built than do not. No option obtained a majority.
