NATIONWIDE -- An Iraq war veteran and co-founder of Purple Heart Homes has died.

Dale Beatty died at age 39 due to a blood clot in each lung.

After losing both of his legs due to an injury in Iraq, Beatty worked to make sure other veterans had a comfortable place to call home.

As of last year he worked on more than 300 projects in 30 states.

In 2017, Beatty was nominated to be a CNN hero.
