CHARLESTON—Authorities released dash cam video from the patrol car of former officer Michael Slager in the traffic stop that led to a fatal shooting in north Charleston, S.C.

In the video released Thursday, the footage shows Slager pulling over 50-year-old Walter Scott last Saturday.

The incident started like many traffic stops. Slager can be heard telling Scott the reason he was pulled over, which he said was for a broken tail light.

Slager goes on to ask Scott for his license, insurance and registration. Scott had his license, but says he didn't have the other two because he was in the process of buying the car.

Slager goes back to his patrol car. Scott opens his door and was ordered to get back in the car.

About 20 seconds later, Scott gets out of his car and runs. Slager was fired and charged with murder for the shooting that resulted in Scott’s death. The FBI is investigating the case.
