RALEIGH, N.C. -- If all the recent talk of ice and snow hasn't gotten you into the holiday spirit, maybe a different kind of Christmas themed play will do the trick.

  • The Santaland Diaries tells the story of an out of work actor, working to pass time and gain extra money as an elf in a famous department store.
  • The one man show has been centered around actor Jesse Gephart, who plays the role of the out-of-work actor forced to work as ‘Crumphet the Elf’

Based off the popular book by hilarious North Carolina writer David Sedaris, The Santaland Diaries tells the story of an out-of-work actor, working to pass time and gain extra money as an elf in a famous department store.  And let's just say it's not all candy canes and stockings. This is a show you'll want to leave the young kiddies at home for.

For the last 10 years, the one man show has been centered around actor Jesse Gephart, who plays the role of the out-of-work actor forced to work as ‘Crumphet the Elf’.  Since 2007, Gephart has played the hilarious role for Theatre in the Park’s production but, as he explained to Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair, his run with the play starts much earlier.

Gephart says the play is a tradition for many, but if you’ve already seen the show before, don’t worry, the visuals will be a little different this year.  If you would like to come out and see The Santaland Diaries, the show runs:

  • December 14 and 15 at 8 p.m.
  • December 16 at 3 p.m.
  • December 21 and 22 at 8 p.m.
  • December 23 at 3 p.m.

2019 season ticket holders only have to pay $17 for tickets, while adult tickets cost $25, seniors, students and military pay $19, and groups of 10 and up pay $17.
