WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Foothills Brewing is celebrating it's twelfth anniversary in Winston-Salem.
It was the first craft brewery in Winston-Salem and the company says they hope to welcome more friendly competition as the craft beer trend continues to grow.
Officials say Foothills has not only helped boost the local economy over the past decade but has given people a unique place to gather.
"I think it's added to the vibrancy and vitality of not only downtown but the city in general, and really it's helped us as we are working to bring in additional businesses and companies," said Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines.
The craft brewery hopes to welcome more breweries to the Twin City, and help make the Triad a destination for craft beer.
Other cities like Raleigh and Charlotte currently have nearly 20 craft breweries compared to only five in Winston-Salem.
