BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Saturday's UFC 210 match between Daniel 'DC' Cormier and Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson will be a battle for the light heavyweight UFC Championship and the first UFC event in Buffalo in 22 years. UFC President Dana White says he worked hard to get the sport back in New York State and is especially excited to bring UFC events to fans in the Queen City.
"We sold out Brooklyn and now here we are in Buffalo. Buffalo has always been known to be an amazing sports town. Well, we're sold out on Saturday night so thank you to everybody in the Buffalo area," said White.
MMA matches were legalized in New York State last year after the sport faced opposition because of safety concerns.
Niagara Falls native and UFC fighter Rashad Evans was also on hand to welcome the UFC back to the Queen City.
"To see the sport that I love and has done so much for my life be in the area where I grew up, in Western New York, is an amazing thing," said Evans.
