A Bronx native got called up to the majors and returned to the Big Apple to join the Mets.

T.J. Rivera, who had been playing for the Mets' Triple-A team in Las Vegas, was one of the leading hitters in the Pacific Coast League.

The 27-year-old grew up as a New York baseball fan and says he's still getting used to his dream coming true.

"You've been waiting for it your whole life, so you kind of, you kind of let it hit you. It still almost hasn't hit me," Rivera said. "But the best part is getting to call your family, and my wife, and being able to tell them that I'm coming home."

Rivera made his debut at third base Wednesday night against the Diamondbacks, wearing number 54.

He got his first major league hit in the 10th inning with a single to center field.
