TOLEDO, Ohio — Garmin, a technology company known for its GPS-enabled products, has chosen Toledo as one of two cities to host the inaugural Garmin Marathon Series.

The series will take place Sept. 21, 2025, and four distances will be an option for runners: Marathon, half marathon, 10K (6.2 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles).

Destination Toledo said the marathon will be a Boston Marathon-qualifying, USATF-certified course, for those hoping to make their Boston qualifying dreams come true. The course will feature the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium, Maumee Brewery and Glass City Metropark. Course maps haven't been revealed yet, but the Garmin website said they're coming soon.

"Our Garmin Marathon in Toledo offers a perfect blend of history, culture and scenic beauty," Garmin wrote on its website. "The course takes you through iconic landmarks and picturesque parks, and along the Maumee River — all while enjoying strong community support and top-tier race organization."

Leading up to the race, there will be a two-day expo, which will feature Garmin technology, gear and athlete meet and greets.

At the finish line of the races, there will be live music, local food and more to celebrate the day.

Registration is open now, and runners can sign up here. More details about the race series can be found on Garmin's website

The other city chosen for the inaugural Garmin Marathon Series is Tucson, Arizona, which will take place Nov. 15.

"Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to conquer your first 5K, this is a race day you won’t want to miss," Destination Toledo wrote in a Facebook post.
