FLORIDA — Florida Senator Ashley Moody, along with Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, introduced the bipartisan Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act of 2025 in March.

Moody’s first senate bill supports the men and women who serve their communities across the United States. It would establish a new home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration for law enforcement, firefighters, medical first responders and teachers.

The HELPER Act would eliminate upfront home purchase costs and monthly mortgage insurance premiums for people in service roles.

On Thursday, Moody held a news conference in Hillsborough County to announce the act — praising the sacrifice and dedication of those who serve their communities.

Like in Florida, she said the bill aims to support every law enforcement officer across the country.

“We want this ability to recruit good men and women — not just exist here in Florida — we want this now to exist everywhere,” Moody said. “We want folks to know as a country, we value you.”

Supporting those in uniform, she said, not only benefits them, but benefits the cities and states they live in.

Touting Florida policies that support those wearing the badge, Moody also said she thinks this bill will help attract more law enforcement officers to the Sunshine State.

“I am proud to say from every state in the nation, people have moved here to be law enforcement officers,” Moody said. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — Florida will always be a law and order state.”
