What You Need To Know
- Cubing Club meets every Tuesday evening
- Peter Raymundo is a former Disney character animator
- Became interested and learned about the Rubik's Cube thanks to his son
Every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 pm, the public library in Celebration becomes a place where people can learn how to solve it. It's become known as the C3 (Cubing Club in Celebration.
"Any person can solve this Rubik's Cube, and we have people come here from all ages and we just teach them from the beginning," said Peter Raymundo, who is a Rubik's Cube instructor.
Raymundo got attached to the Rubik's Cube thanks to his son who is far from an amateur. He taught his father, and now he is paying it forward.
"This is a free service too, so it is a career, but you know what teaching is part of my overall life and a big part of my career as you could say," Raymundo said.
Raymundo has had quite the career over the years. He's an established artist, and even traced and painted a mural inside the West Osceola Branch Library. It has children's book characters and well-known Disney characters which is a significant part of this story.
"I was actually a Walt Disney animator and I helped worked on, really, as far as I'm concerned some of the greatest movies ever made," Raymundo said.
Raymundo started in the 1990s after being recruited while in school in Ohio.
"I started on a movie called ‘Mulan’ that we made here at the Florida studio," Raymundo reflected. "I worked on the character Jane on the movie ‘Tarzan’, ‘The Emperor's New Groove’, I helped animate Lilo in the movie ‘Lilo and Stitch.’"
The list goes on. He's also a published author and actually wrote and illustrated a book about the Rubik's Cube.
