ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — An Amber Alert that was issued Sunday for a mother and her two children was falsely reported, according to the St. Charles County Police.
It was reported that 22-year-old Yajayra Suleyma Molina-Yat, and her daughters, Rosana Michel Mo-Molina, 7, and Irma Rubi Mo-Morales, 6, left their home in O'Fallon around 6 p.m. with two unknown men.
Information from the Missouri Highway Patrol about the Amber Alert said the mother and daughters were in Phillipsburg, Mo. when Yajayra was separated from her girls and forced into a red pickup truck. The girls were last seen in a black SUV.
On Monday, police said all three were found in Corpus Christi, Texas, and that the investigation was taken over by the FBI.
After interviews by St. Charles County Police, the investigation revealed the initial report of abduction was “exaggerated.”
The investigation is ongoing and there may be possible charges for falsely reporting a crime, according to police.
“We'd like to recognize the extraordinarily fast work by investigators that led to determining the direction and destination of the parties involved,” a Facebook post by St. Charles County Police Department states.
“Within just a few short hours of being notified, officers at the scene and investigators, out of an abundance of caution, reacted swiftly to locate the individuals involved.”
