HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The body of a swimmer who went missing Thursday on Lake Norman has been recovered, authorities say.

Crews from Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue found the body near the sandbar at about 11 p.m. Saturday, the agency said Sunday in a post on Facebook.

Multiple agencies joined the effort that continued through the nights to find the swimmer, and boaters were urged to avoid the area around the sandbar and Marker D4 to keep waters calm for the use of sonar during the search.
