BRADENTON, Fla. — A Bradenton police officer died on Sunday night after battling cancer, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Sgt. Lee Cosens would have turned 40 years old on Monday.

Cosens was a U.S. Army veteran who then spent more than a decade with Bradenton police.

He worked as a patrol officer, then as a detective and became a sergeant in 2021.

Cosens leaves behind his wife, Amy, and two daughters, aged 6 and 7.
