Swedish furniture company IKEA on Thursday recalled thousands of its ODGER Swivel Chairs, saying the item poses a fall and injury hazard to users, per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
IKEA recalled nearly 12,00 units of the ODGER chair in the anthracite/gray color, saying it has received four reports of the leg brace breaking, including two U.S.-based reports of individuals being injured due to a fall.
Impacted chairs bear a date stamp before and including 2221, which can be located underneath the seat, molded into the material of the chair. The items were sold at IKEA stores and online between Oct. 2019 and Dec. 2022 for approximately $159.
“Please immediately stop use and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund or if you are unable to return to a store, please contact us for instructions on how to dispose of the chair to receive a full refund,” IKEA wrote in a statement. “Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.”
