BUFFALO, N.Y. — GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center is getting a financial boost.

The center is getting a $100,000 grant from the state to help expand their fitness program and bring in math tutoring.

"Our programs range. They're social, they're therapeutic, they're educational,” Emily Mondschein, executive director of GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo Down Syndrome Achievement Center, said. “So you can imagine the lift that is because we're across the age span. So with Senator Kennedy's funding, we're going to be able to continue these programs."

GiGi's Playhouse was established in 2002. Since then it's offered free programs for more than 30,000 people with Down syndrome.
