ST. LOUIS – A 20-year-old man is charged with murdering Christopher Brennan in the victim’s Shaw neighborhood backyard Friday night around 7:30 p.m. Kyle Stone has been charged with murder and armed criminal action.

Court documents state the responding officer viewed surveillance footage that captured the incident. The surveillance shows Stone approaching Brennan in his backyard on Flora Place in south St. Louis.

In the probable cause statement, the officer says the video shows Stone pull out a gun, a brief struggle follows, and the defendant shoots Brennan and runs off.

Officers were able to find Stone in about 20 minutes thanks to information from witnesses and a follow-up investigation. Stone did lead police on a short foot pursuit before officers were able to arrest him.

Police say officers also recovered distinct clothing worn by the defendant at the time of the shooting.

The Hartford Coffee House confirmed on its Facebook page that Stone is the same man who stole from customers and employees three times earlier this month.
