AUSTIN, Texas -- A new app is saving people from a dreaded but necessary household chore: laundry.

There's no denying that laundry can be time consuming. Especially if someone does not have a washer and dryer, just the process of getting to the laundromat can be a nightmare.

It's why Ryan Harmon co-founded Press, an app that connects you with a local dry cleaner that will pick up your dirty clothes, clean them and bring them back.

Laundromats say the app is boosting business.

"Press allowed us to reach customers that we may not be convenient to," said Jason Frick, operating partner at ZIPS Dry Cleaners.

Press is also helping out the Salvation Army. When customers leave their laundry out for pick-up, they can also put out a bag of clothing donations.

The clothes will be cleaned and dropped off at the non-profit.

"It's a win for our customers because they get to give back and they don't have to drive downtown to drop it off at the Salvation Army," said Harmon. "They get a receipt, so it's tax deductible."

Press is available in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas/Forth Worth, Lubbock and San Angelo.
