ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. -- The mild, spring-like temperature Tuesday didn't stop skiers and snowboarders from hitting the slopes at Holiday Valley.

"It's not how we would have scripted the week, but we're very fortunate to have all the snowmaking in the weeks prior," said Bonnie Koschir, Holiday Valley vice president of operations

More than 200 automated snowguns have kept many of the slopes open, as visitors also get the rare chance to relax and eat on the deck.

"We keep the outside seating. Have people spend more time outside as opposed to inside getting warmed up," said Koschir.

The Seboks, visiting from Ontario, Canada, have spent the last couple days at Holiday Valley sporting sweatshirts on the slopes.

"Very unusual. I mean you're used to a lot colder conditions than this right? And bundled up," said Jonathan Sebok.

Josie Banas, 11, of Williamsville, is on winter break from school and doesn't mind snowboarding in warm weather.

"It wasn't this warm definitely at least three years ago. Sometimes my facemask is always falling off and then that causes all of the cold air to go in me and I just don't like it," said Banas.

Like it or not, the resort says it'll continue to fire up the guns, knowing there's a lot more winter still to come.

"We're expecting the cold temps. We've got our snowmaking crews on standby," said Koschir.

Those crews are expected to make snow Friday night and throughout the weekend as weather permits.
