HIGH POINT—Triad economic development leaders are calling it one of the largest job announcements in the region's history.
On Thursday, High Point's ninth largest employer announced it's hiring for hundreds of new positions.
"Alorica operates the largest network of customer engagement solution centers in the U.S., with over 100 facilities,” said company spokesman Ken Muché.
Expert Global Solutions, recently acquired by Alorica, wants you to work at its High Point call center.
"We're here today to announce our 800 jobs that we're hiring for and expanding right here locally,” Muché said. “We're looking to hire about 565 more because we started that hiring initiative a few weeks ago."
The company already employs 1,100 people here.
Leaders say 99 percent of the jobs they're hiring for are full time, and the pay and benefits are competitive.
"Because it's so competitive here, I can't give you a number, because if I do, the competition will offer 10 cents more an hour tomorrow,” Muché said.
Community leaders say the colossal announcement is a result of teamwork.
They gave no economic incentives to Alorica.
"The partnership between Guilford County, the City of High Point and the City of Greensboro is very gratifying,” said Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughn.
Company leaders want to stress that they have a completely different culture than other call centers out there. You can apply for one of the new jobs online, but they highly encourage you to come in person to the call center on Federal Drive. That way you can meet company leaders face to face, and find out if they're a good fit for you.
"We like to meet folks face to face and talk with them and understand where they're coming from, so we can give job offers on the spot,” Muché said.
It’s a welcome announcement for the Triad, that's had several call centers close in the last couple of years.
The call center is located on 4336 Federal Drive in High Point.
