WEST VIRGINIA -- Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is no longer in prison.
Prison officials say Cannon was released from a federal minimum security prison in Morgantown, West Virginia on Thursday.
According to officials, he is now under the supervision of the Residential Re-entry Management Office in Raleigh.
The former Charlotte mayor spent 115 days in office.
He was sworn into office on Dec. 2, 2013 and was later arrested in March of 2014 for corruption charges.
For nearly four years, the FBI was investigating him and during that investigation, they discovered that he planned to solicit about $50,000 in the form of cash, gifts and trips from undercover agents posing as land dealers.
He resigned as mayor on March 26, 2014.
Cannon was later found guilty of one count of honest services wire fraud after admitting to accepting bribes from FBI undercover agents.
He was sentenced to 44 months in prison.
Cannon will return to his home in Charlotte where he will remain on house arrest until January.
