ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three area pediatric practices will no longer provide coverage through the Mohawk Valley Health System. Sauquoit Valley Pediatrics, Slocum-Dickson Medical Group and Utica Pediatrics made the announcement in letters to their patients.

Starting July 1, patients of the practices won't be admitted to St. Luke's Healthcare or St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.

The letter from Sauquoit Valley Pediatrics said seriously-ill children needing face-to-face assessment will be directed to Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse.

The Chief Medical Officer of Faxton St. Luke's and St. Elizabeth's said he's disappointed in their decision. But he wants the community to know that children can still be brought to the emergency departments and for any scheduled surgeries.

Representatives from Utica Pediatrics and Sauquoit Valley Pediatrics declined to comment.
