ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fire forced residents to evacuate their apartment building in Rochester Wednesday afternoon.

It happened shortly after noon at Danforth Tower on West Avenue. The Rochester Fire Department says the fire started in a studio apartment on the ninth floor. The resident was downstairs at the time. Firefighters put the fire out, but the apartment has major fire damage.

The fire was contained to the one apartment. The building alarm sounded and residents exited the building for a short time as a precaution. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
