SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- A man is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after a bizarre incident Friday morning at the Price Chopper in Saugerties.

Saugerties police say just after 2 a.m., the store manager saw a man walking around wearing what appeared to be an employee ID. When the manager approached the man, he claimed that he was the manager and was working.

The man then reportedly barricaded himself in the employee break room when police arrived and refused to let them in. When the police finally go inside the room, they say the man jumped off the table, did a backflip, and landed on his back.

The man then claimed the police flipped him over the table, but police deny the accusations and say body cameras can support it. The man was taken into custody and brought into the Kingston hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
