WESTERNVILLE, N.Y. -- Authorities are still looking for the body of a newborn that was disposed of by its mother in Oneida County.

Deputies say 26-year-old Brianna Howard was pregnant and receiving care from Rome Hospital.

However, hospital employees told police she stopped coming to appointments.

The baby was believed to be in good health up until that point.

Deputies say Howard gave birth to the child on December 18th.

Howard claims the baby was still-born.

She has been arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse.

"The law that she's charged under is a law that, it's brand new," said Scott McNamara, Oneida County District Attorney. "The law I think was passed, I think it went into effect in November so we're talking about a like 2 or 3 month old law. So it's the first time we've ever had a case like that that we could use that law."

According to law enforcement officials, Howard told them a specific location where the body was, but they say the information was false.

Howard is being held on $30,000 bail in the Oneida County Jail.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Oneida County Sheriff's office at 315-765-2226.
