Austin Trans­portation Director Apol­o­gizes for 'Judg­mental Map'

Austin's Transportation Director has issued a formal apology after an employee used a so-called “Judgmental Map of Austin” during a presentation Tuesday.

The map began circulating the internet years ago, and use offensive terms to describe neighborhoods.

One map of Austin describes some neighborhoods in terms like North Mexico, South Mexico, and Army gays.

Robert Spillar says his employee used the map to demonstrate how a “street traverses many places.”

Spillar says corrective measures will be taken once the investigation is complete.
