Whether it's 5 miles away or 500, an up-and-coming website is helping people find the best destinations at home and afar. The site is called Gogobot, and one of the women behind the project happens to be a Syracuse native. Brad Vivacqua has the details.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- You may want to give a website called Gogobot a try to help you find a restaurant or destination just for you. After all, when summer is here and you've got some plans to travel to a city in which you've never been before -- it could be helpful.
Krista Canfield is from Onondaga Hill and spent seven years working at LinkedIn before joining Gogobot in December.
She stopped in to give us a tutorial on how the website and app work. She says you can find destinations pertaining to your unique interests and travel style by searching through "tribes" around the world.
"You're a budget traveler, or someone who likes luxury experiences -- you're going to want to see different things when you're in Paris, you're going to want to taste different things when you're in Paris, and you'll probably want to stay at different kinds of hotels than those other folks. So, we help people find the perfect places and experiences for them," said Krista Canfield, the Gogobot corporate communications vice president.
Canfield has been recognized by Business Insider as one of the top 50 public relations technology industry professionals. She's been to more than 230 cities around the world and says Gogobot is great for anyone.
She works out of California but recently delivered the convocation speech at Syracuse University School of Information Studies over the weekend.
