AVON, N.Y. -- Police in Livingston County said a neglected pit bull, found abandoned Monday on East Avon-Lima Road, is being adopted and cared for by the Good Samaritan who found him.
According to sheriff's deputies, Duncan, who is 3 1/2 years old, was found emaciated and had pressure sores.
Since then, Duncan's owners have been charged with animal cruelty. Investigators said Christopher Thornton and Hannah Rowlinson had originally claimed the dog had been missing for months and came back emaciated. The investigation found that dog was barely fed.
Vets said Duncan is going to make a full recovery.
