ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The deafening silence at the snow-covered Frontier Field is a reminder of this long winter, but for many eager job applicants on Saturday, winter is already becoming a thing of the past.

The Rochester Red Wings held an open interview day for more than 100 part-time positions.

The team is looking to fill jobs in concessions, the kitchen, suites and picnics. They are also hiring bartenders, suite runners, and warehouse workers.

“This would be a great place for me because I love baseball and I’d like to work at a place with concessions,” Rochester resident Thomas Giordano said. “The opportunity to see the games through the stadium would also be a bonus.”

Rochester resident Daniel Council-Lopez agreed.

“I’m currently looking for concession or warehouse job because I’m used to working with food and heavy lifting,” Council-Lopez said. “It would mean everything because I like baseball. I watch baseball with my uncle from time to time when I can. So working here, it would give me that great opportunity to see and witness while working and making money at the same time.”

His brother is also hoping to score a job there as well.

“It would really mean a lot because I’m trying to help out my mom,” Rae-Quon Council-Griffin said.

General manager Dan Mason says the energetic atmosphere makes it a fun place to work.

“I think people come to Frontier Field to have a great time and so they go in with the mindset of I’m here to have fun,” Mason said. “I think that fun energy is infectious and we hope that our employees are equally as infectious with their fun to our fans.”

With opening day just six weeks away, training will begin quickly after new employees are notified they are hired.

“We’re kind of the guinea pigs for the new employees when they’re making all the great food that fans are going to get to try here at Frontier Field this year,” Mason said.

Not long after the snow will melt away, and fans and cheers will start filling the stands again.

If you were unable to make it to open interview day, you can still apply here.
