WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. -- An "ice volcano" in Letchworth State Park, near the Glen Iris Inn, is drawing people from all over, despite the elements.

"I was here yesterday and it was just like this. It's the middle of the week. This isn't the weekend and it isnt a particularly nice day. Yet dozens and dozens of people are coming here," said North Java resident Dave Schwab.

"It kind of looks like art," said Jennifer Krueger, Buffalo resident.

The ice cone is not man-made.

"It's still spraying out of the top of the cone. It's atleast 50 feet high. It's quite spectacular this time of year," said Assistant Park Manager Douglas Kelly.

Kelly said the fountain runs year-round from a stream, and that the coldest winters bring the biggest ice sculptures.

"There was no ice cone or ice volcano last year at all, but this year, it's bigger then ever and this is the coldest February we have had, except two others in 100 years," said Schwab.

People said they are willing to bundle up just so they can take a picture in front of something that reminds them that winter can be beautiful.

"As much as it's cold, it's pretty," said Madison Kupka, Buffalo resident.
