A former firefighter who used to save lives from a fire truck is now saving lives with a diet plan.

Rip Esselstyn developed the Engine 2 Diet while working as a firefighter in Austin. He used it to help his colleagues eat better.

It's based on a plant-strong eating plan, and the goal is to help people live healthier rather than lose weight.

"Often we forget about the basics of healthy eating, and there's so much going on in the world of food, so the best thing about healthy eating is you get to establish roots with healthy plant-based foods again,” Andi Jo Elbel with Whole Foods said.
