Aaron Deane is preparing to be fit to fight.  "Well, I'm part of a Marine Corps program, so it's very important for me to be able to run and be able to stay physically fit and cardio fit," said Deane.

In his training to become a Marine, Deane works out five times a week. "We'll run three to five miles in the mornings, maybe more; you know, we're on the go all the time, we're always doing cardio exercises," said Deane.

It's the cardio exercise that is good for your heart.  "Your heart is a muscle, so the more you workout, the more you exercise, the stronger that muscle gets, and you don't have to be an athlete. Just thirty mintues a day of walking does a lot," said Dr. Sandy Charles, a cardiologist at Novant Health.

The exercise could help you in the long run when it comes to prevention.  "Heart disease is actually the #1 of both men and women in this country. One in five people that die, are actually dying from heart disease,” said Dr. Charles.

Deane is mindful that cardio exercise is key. "You should be out there running everyday, doing cardio and stuff, to help get your blood going and heart healthy and clear," said Deane.

Taking it one step at a time to keep your heart happy and healthy.
