City Hall is ramping up its push to rapidly increase the number of new housing units across the five boroughs.
This week, the City Council voted to approve a rezoning plan for Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. The plan is designed to pave the way for more than 4,000 new apartments on a mostly industrial stretch of the street in Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant.
City officials, including Deputy Mayor Adolfo Carrion, say Atlantic Avenue is only the beginning.
Dan Garodnick, chair and director of the Department of City Planning, joined anchor Rocco Vertuccio on "Weekends on 1" to discuss what else the city has in mind.
