Michael Brown is an operations manager at Spectrum News Kansas City. He boasts an impressive career spanning nearly three decades in the television news and sports industry. Michael's experience includes everything from daily news and political debates to in-depth sports coverage, including local, college, and pro sports.
Hailing from the heart of southeastern Ohio, Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in mass communications with a specialized focus on radio and television production, earned at Oklahoma Christian University. His career began as a production assistant in small-town West Virginia, where he juggled multiple roles, including camera operator, audio engineer, and master control operator. Things took a pivotal turn in 1999 when he relocated to Columbus, Ohio, and spent over 13 years refining his skills at a statewide news network.
In 2014, Michael joined the Spectrum News team, where he has consistently worked in both technical and editorial aspects of broadcasting. He initially contributed to the Ohio division before assuming his current central role in Kansas City, where he continues to shape and elevate our broadcasts.
Outside of work, Michael cherishes quality family time with his wife and son. They enjoy board games, escape rooms, and seeing the KC Symphony and local theater productions, and indulging in delicious local eats.
