MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Common Council passed a mask mandate Tuesday morning amid rising COVID-19 cases.

The mandate is for indoor businesses and spaces, and is in effect until March 1. It passed 12-1, with one abstention.

Milwaukee's last indoor mask mandate expired on June 1, 2021.

The city has reported 140,944 confirmed cases and just under 1,000 related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. The positivity rate is currently 28.3%.
